How to start a Honda S2000 cluster swap
With the VSS on the gearbox it was now easyer to consider swapping an the cluster into the car. This swap is nearly impossible to do with the OEM speedo cable system of the CRX. So here is a view of the AP1 cluster just arrived at home :
The problem is : many (including mine …) S2000 cluster are sold without the wires behind. So … it is not easy to start wiring the whole thing.
I decided to wire each PIN by using individual connectors from hold Honda “big” connectors. This is long, but it works well ! The connectors you see are from computers and they allow to disconnect the harness quickly and easily if necessary.
On the S2000, two signals coming from the cluster are going through the ECU for treatment : speed and water temp signals.
I choose not to install the water temp signal as it needs an expensive converter (~ 100 USD) and also because the information displayed on the dash is not precise. I’ll use my 52mm aftermarket gauge for this.
To get the right speed information, you’ll need to use a SPEEDO-HEALER V4 converter. Originally made for motorbikes, remember to buy the one with ‘universal harness’.
